Inhalt:
Im Workshop „The Art of Casting“ berichtet die renommierte US-amerikanische Casterin/ Casting Regisseurin Cassandra Han, die u.a. mit Terence Malick gearbeitet hat, von ihren Erfahrungen und verrät uns ihre Tricks. Dabei wird es zwei Schwerpunkte geben: einen theoretischen am ersten Tag und einen praktischen am zweiten: Am ersten Tag geht es daher vor allem um die Bedingungen für einen guten Cast (Unterschied zw. Casting Director und Agent, Vorstellungskraft, Zeit- und Budget-beschränkungen, sowie die Unterschiede zwischen verschiedenen Ländern im Hinblick auf die Bekanntheit der Darsteller*innen, aber auch produktionsbedingende Unterschiede regionaler Förderungen und Casting Gebühren werden in den Blick genommen. Der zweite Tag widmet sich dann der praktischen Arbeit: Hierbei stellt Cassandra Han Casting Techniken und Methoden anhand von Beispielen vor, die die Teilnehmer*innen dann in Zusammenarbeit mit Schauspielstudierenden in Übungen erproben können.
HINWEIS: Jeweils am Samstag und Sonntag gibt es zwischen 16-17:00 die Möglichkeit mit Cassandra Han über das eigene Projekt zu sprechen. Die Zahl der One-to-One-Gespräche ist auf je 4 Personen beschränkt, daher bitte in der Anmeldung explizit vermerken.

Casandra Han ist eine US-amerikanische Casterin für Spielfilme und TV-Serien, die seit 20 Jahren in Europa arbeitet und dies von Rom, Berlin und nun auch von München aus.
Ihre italienischen Casting Credits umfassen Produktionen wie den Spielfilm FORD VS FERRARI von James Mangold, der für mehrere Oscars nominiert war, zwei Staffeln der Deutschen Netflix Serie „Barbaren, sowie „A hidden Life“ (dt. „Ein verborgenes Leben“) von Terrence Malick (2019, Cannes Film Festival). Weitere letzte Produktionen waren LITTLE AMERICA für die ARD, sowie NARCISS UND GOLDMUND (2020) von Stefan Ruzowitsky, AMELIE RENNT (2017, Deutscher Filmpreis, Berlinale).
Cassandra Han ist Gründungsmitglied von „Women in Film, Television & Media Italia“ und Vorstandsmitglied der Casting Society of America (CSA). 2021, war sie Jury Mitglied für “European Shooting Stars”. Mehr unter:

At the workshop "The Art of Casting" the renowned US casting director Cassandra Han, who has worked with Terence Malick among others, will tell us about her experiences and reveal her tricks. The focus will be twofold: the first day will be devoted to theory and the second day to the practical aspects of auditioning. Day One will therefore focus on what it takes to create a great cast: the role of casting director versus agent, the power of imagination, overcoming time and budget constraints, country-specific differences regarding bankability of actors and actresses, as well as production-related factors such as regional funding requirements and fees. Day Two will be dedicated to the practical work: Cassandra will present audition techniques and methods through the use of very specific examples, which the participants will then have the opportunity to put into practice on the spot, working together with acting students.
INFORMATION: Both days the participants will have the opportunity to get some advice regarding their own projects in One-to-one-meetings between 4 and 5 a.m. Please note in your application. Limited number of participants, 4 on each day.

Cassandra Han is an American casting director for feature films and television series, based in Europe for almost 20 years and working primarily out of Rome, Berlin and new from Munich. Her Casting Italy credits include the multiple Oscar-nominated FORD VS FERRARI by James Mangold, two seasons of Germany's hit Netflix series BARBARIANS by Gaumont, and A HIDDEN LIFE by Terrence Malick (2019, Cannes Film Festival). Other recent credits include RESILIENT for Roberto Faenza, LITTLE AMERICA for ARD, NARCISSUS AND GOLDMUND (2020) by the Academy-Award winning Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitsky, AMELIE RENNT (2017, German Film Prize, Berlinale).
